OS X is pretty resource intense, and the OS uses a lot of its processing power to keep all of the background native processes running smoothly, which there are a lot of. When you are running your Mac natively, it's running OS X, whichever version you are on. Parallels is not going to be friendly if you try to do any resource intensive program.
